BOSE PREMIUM HOME THEATER SYSTEM VS SONOS PREMIUM IMMERSIVE SET WITH ARC: COMPARISON AND REVIEW

Making an investment in home audio equipment can be a challenging task. Especially with so many great choices on the market. When it comes to surround sound entertainment, you’ll want to make sure you’re getting the best bang for your buck. Two of the top leading entertainment systems are from Bose and Sonos. We’ve broken down their specs so you can have an easier time deciding which one to choose.

Bose Premium Home Theater System

Picture
First, let’s take a look at Bose. Their best surround sound system for home entertainment features the Bose Smart Sound Bar 900 with Dolby Atmos, Bose Bass Module 700, and two Bose Surround Speakers 700. Each part can be sold separately and matched with other Bose products for a customizable sound system as well.

Bose Smart Sound Bar

Picture
The Bose Smart Sound Bar 900 with Dolby Atmos has a color choice of either black or white, it’s decked with 9 different speakers, and gives off the illusion of sounds coming from areas in the room where there are no actual speakers - thanks to two upward firing dipole transducers on either end of the bar. It is also compatible with Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant for ease of smart use through hands free voice control.

Bose Bass

When it comes to a bass, you want something you can physically experience. The Bose Bass Module 700 allows you to actually feel sounds. It’s also wireless, and comes in either black or white with a sleek glass top design that seamlessly fits into any space without being unsightly.

Have you ever wanted to be somewhere without actually having to leave your couch? The Bose Surround Speakers 700 allow you to do so. Feel what it’s like to be part of the action on screen in real time. Not only do the speakers come in a stylish design, but they also come with adapters for wireless connection to the sound bar so there are more options for where to place them in the room.

Sonos Premium Immersive Set With Arc

Picture
Similar to the Bose system, each part of the Sonos Premium Set can also be sold separately and matched with other Sonos products for a fully customizable system. This particular set features the Arc Premium Smart Sound Bar, Sub (Gen 3) Premium Wireless Subwoofer, and two of the One SL Speakers.

Sonos Smart Sound Bar

The Sonos Arc Premium Smart Sound Bar offers a sleek appearance with curved ends and can be purchased in either black or white. It includes the Dolby Atmos technology that comes in the Bose sound bar, with distinct sound recognizers for a true cinematic experience. The Sonos sound bar adds trueplay tuning technology in the mix as well. This allows audio to adapt to the size of the room for the perfect amount of sound to reach your ears every time. Furthermore, this smart sound bar can be controlled from the Sonos App, the tv remote, by touch, through Apple Airplay 2, or by Sonos voice control for all around convenient access.

Sonos Bass

With a unique and stylish appearance, the Sonos Sub (Gen 3) is a great option that doesn’t need to be hidden behind furniture. It can stand upright or be laid on its side for better maneuverability in different sized spaces as well. The subwoofer offers a fully immersive feeling to every low and booming effect while still providing a clear sound. Similar to the Bose bass, there is no distortion, so only realism shines through. It is also wireless and easily connects to the rest of the system so there's no need to worry about annoying wires.

Sonos Surround Sound Speakers

A single Sonos One SL speaker offers a fullness of sound on its own, and this Sonos set comes with two of them. These speakers include the same trueplay tuning technology featured in the Sonos sound bar to elevate every sound for a richer experience. They also offer the same freedom of accessibility control as the smart sound bar for convenience. With a compact design, the speakers come in either white or black, and look great in any theater room.

What We Like About The Bose Home Theater System

The sound bar separates sounds. Music, chatter, and special effects throughout films are kept distinct and noticeable from one another, for a fully immersive, true theater like experience because of the built in Dolby Atmos technology. The bass not only looks better than others out there, but also offers an unparalleled booming effect for its smaller size. It also offers zero distortion, no matter how loud the volume is turned up, which is awesome when listening to music! We also love that there are less wires to deal with when it comes to the surround sound speakers. This offers a lot more placement options without having to hide wires.

What We Don’t Like

There’s nothing negative to say about the Bose sound system. We like everything about it. If anything, we wish the set came in more color options. Overall this isn’t a huge issue, just something to consider when imagining the set up in your space.

What We Like About The Sonos Premium Immersive Set With Arc

The Sonos Arc Sound Bar has a sleek design that would be a great addition to any space. We especially love that it can adjust to the acoustics of any room size through the trueplay tuning technology. It’s also good to note that this system can be controlled directly through Sonos Voice Control without needing to go through Alexa or Google Assistant. The subwoofer is also extremely likable because of its modernistic design and we’ll never not like a wireless option–  plus, this bass can be doubled with another one for an even better entertainment experience in larger spaces. The speakers are also a great addition and powerful enough to get a cinematic theater experience in any sized room.

What We Don’t Like

The speakers in this sound system aren’t wireless, but that’s more of a personal preference depending on how you’ll be arranging your setup.

Final Thoughts

Overall, both the Sonos and Bose sound systems are great options with minor differences. After comparing the two, we have two verdicts. For a home theater setup (single room), we’d choose the Bose Premium Home Theater Set. This set would work better in a closed off area with a theater like environment in mind. For an entertainment space (living room + dining area, game room etc.) we’d prefer the Sonos Premium Immersive Set. It can be blended into a larger area and would do well with the powerful speakers alongside trueplay technology.
