Smart Things to Have for Dogs Left Home Alone

What are some smart things to have for when I leave my dog(s) home alone?

Dogs have nubby paws, sleepy cuteness, and floppy ears that make them irresistible to most! However, life with a dog is anything but easy. Getting a puppy is the closest thing to coming home with a newborn human baby. Your attention is on them 24/7, but when they’re old enough to leave home alone it can sometimes be a challenging task. Aside from hours of training, there are added ways to make leaving your furry friends home alone even simpler.

Picture
Digital door and window locks. Keep your pets safe by making sure all exits are secured. If you leave home in a rush and forget to lock your pet in, just use your smart device to automatically do it for you. It’s that simple, and more than worth it.

Install a doggy smart door. Smart doors for dogs are a great way to ensure your pup doesn’t have to spend hours alone without a bathroom break. It’s especially good for owners who are too busy at home or gone at work most of the time. Smart pet doors allow dogs to go in and out of the house without having to wait on you, and you can control the smart door from your phone.

Smart thermostats. We all get too hot or too cold from time to time. So do our pets. Leaving them in extreme temperatures for long periods of time can lead to more than dehydration. Keep your pets comfortable in well ventilated areas and temperature control. Smart thermostats can be controlled from your smart device or put to a set temperature so you never have to worry about your dog.
Install indoor security cameras. Cameras are good for catching intruders but they're also ideal for keeping an eye on pets. Have We Are More install indoor security cameras to keep an eye on your puppers the same way you’d use a baby monitor.

Smart dog pad. If you’re someone who’s ever tried to potty train your dog indoors with potty pads, you know the hassle of cleanup. It's not something you always have time to do as often as you need to, and it’s not the most pleasant thing to do. Thankfully there are smart dog pads that are now self cleaning and get the job done for you.
Picture
Video Chat control panel. It might seem silly at first but take some things into consideration. Dogs know our voices. We can give them comfort just by speaking. So imagine being away from a dog with separation anxiety (which most dogs have) and being able to pop on a video call with them throughout the day to see what they’re doing in their secluded area and even talk to them. We Are More installs smart devices that can double as a control panel for your home and a camera for a little facetime with your pup.

Remote treat dispenser. These dispensers also double as a camera so you can keep an eye on your dog from your smart device and throw them a treat from miles away. It’s a great way to keep your dog occupied on treats instead of wondering where you are.

Have alexa talk to your pup. Did you know this is a thing? If you already have an alexa, just download the skill. Say “Alexa, enable bark.” and that should do the trick. Your dog will be entertained with Alexa the same way you are.

Ball Launchers. Speaking of toys, most dogs love a good game of toss! If your good boy or girl is easily amused by “fetch” then think about getting them a ball launcher. Extra play time for the win!

Smart dog toys. Talk about keeping your doggos occupied! Smart toys give playtime to your dog when you can’t. Don’t feel bad about not being able to play with your pet, just get them a smart toy!

Automatic pet feeder and pet waterer. These smart appliances are perfect for those that don’t have time to feed themselves before work cause they’re too busy making sure everyone else has breakfast! Or for those who simply forget to feed their dogs at the right time. Automatic feed and watering will relieve stress from busy pet owners.

GPS pet tracker and activity monitor. If you can find a good pet GPS device you should get one. These smart collars track your pet even when you’re home, and allow you to monitor their activity without needing to be in the same room or place as them. It’s good for those who are still in the training phases with their pets, or even for pets that have a high chance of slipping out the door. Forget the stress, just track them with GPS!

There are so many things to use for keeping your pets safe, busy, and happy while you’re away from home. Just remember that they’re the right age to be left alone, and that you get them used to the sounds and uses of any products you introduce them to before leaving the house. Dogs make us happy and keep us entertained, we can do the same for them!

Ideas For What An Electrical Technician Should Wear On The Job

This blog is a splurge. Let’s talk about clothes! Technician clothes. Maybe you recently created a technician start-up business of some sort. Or maybe you just got hired as a technician and your boss didn’t really give you a dress code. That’s what this article is for!

The type of technician you are doesn’t matter. Being professional and comfortable on the job is the goal. Let’s go through the perfect apparel options for any technician job to find the best technician uniform for you.

Picture

Collared Shirts

  • The material of your shirts will depend on the locations you work in, but collared shirts come in all sorts of materials. You might have to do some looking around to see what material suits you best in terms of comfortability for long hours in the cold or in the heat.

Bottoms

  • Again, depending on your work location, materials can vary. If you want something light and cool, lean more towards khaki/cargo style pants. If you want something more durable and warm, lean towards 100% cotton denims. It all depends on what will make you feel most comfortable on the job. Another important thing to remember is color scheme. Don’t opt for white or bright colors unless those are part of your company colors. When it comes to jeans/pants, professionals stick to blacks, grays, beige/tan, and darker nuetral colors.

T-Shirts

  • Tees can be a hit or miss because they're so close to the line between casual and professional. However, depending on how you wear them, they can work. T-Shirts are comfortable, and with a brand colored scheme they can be pulled off as professional. Another way to dress them up is to tuck them in. If you do go the t-shirt route, stick to plain colors without designs. Unless it’s a company logo, plain is the way to go.

For Colder Worksites

Hoodies

  • Like t-shirts, when you have to wear a hoodie make sure it’s a plain one. Whether it’s a zip-up or a pullover, stay away from any designs unless it’s your company logo. Also make sure it’s not too thick. Sometimes thick sweatshirts will cause overheating in cold weather if you’re doing heavier labor. However, it’s up to your personal preference.

Jackets

  • Lightweight jackets should be the go-to jackets for your work day. Find something that’s water and wind resistant with pockets. Lightweight jackets are good because you’ll be both protected and comfortable. Once again, keep it plain! No designs or wording unless it’s your logo or company name.

  • If the weather you’re in demands something more durable, so be it! Just remember to keep the colors in correlation with your brand or stick to neutral dark colors.

Onesies

  • Not the kind babies wear… these are more so recognized as coveralls or overalls. They’re durable and ideal for most working environments. If you want something that’s easy to pull on and off and you’re comfortable wearing a one piece, consider these! Whether short or long sleeve, find one that matches your brand colors.

Shoes

  • Shoes will also depend on what your work environment is like. Typically no matter what location you’re in, you’re going to want something durable and comfortable. The choices can range between comfortable sneakers to heavy work boots. Make your choice on whatever looks and feels best with what your wearing. The color of your shoes don’t need to match with your clothes but keep to less flashy colors to stick with a professional look.

As you can see, there are a lot of options for maintaining good attire during the work week. The basic takeaways are to wear your brand colors and be consistent with them, to be comfortable, and to be remembered as a professional worker!

For a look book of certain clothing items check out “Cable Technician Dress Code: How to Put Together an Awesome Uniform.” If you need a more detailed description of other types of clothing for protection such as hard hats, gloves, vests, and so on, read “What Technicians Wear On The Job.”

Extra Tip:

Brand It

  • If you are the owner of the business, think about putting your logo or company name on your work apparel. Or talk to the owner about doing so. If you don’t feel like putting it on all your shirts, invest in putting it on hats or work bags for you and your employees. A brand name/logo will add to making your brand look established and trustworthy. If your work-fit is always the same it’ll show that you’re consistent. Which will ultimately promote your brand and your professionalism.

Why Smart Locks Are So Great

Why Are Smart Locks So Great?

Picture
The benefits of having a smart lock outweigh any reason not to have one. There are pros and cons of both smart and traditional locks, but there’s one advantage that lets digital locks take the cake. A safe keyless entry.

Fumbling through keys, and often losing them, is one of the best reasons to go digital. Smart locks don’t require keys! Unlock doors directly from a smartphone, or simply dial in whatever memorable number was chosen as an unlock code.

Businesses with multiple employees who open and close the building don’t need to worry about buying multiple keys. The days of employees losing keys have come and gone too, just go digital. Likewise, households with multiple residents/roommates don’t have to worry about making a key for everyone. Never get locked out again!

“But then everyone knows the code for my business/house even when they leave!” Not so. The convenience of smart locks goes even farther. Simply change the code whenever it’s needed. Old employee? No problem. Crazy ex roommate? Not an issue. It’s as easy as changing the password to an online account.

Airbnb, VRBO and other rental homes also benefit from keyless entries. House managers and owners only need to send visitors the lock code upon arrival. When the vacation is over, the code can simply be changed after their check out time. Keyless entries ensure a safe solution for guests to come and go when they’re permitted to.

The second best thing about smart locks is their universalism. They're keyless, but for people who are more traditional, they can also include a keyhole. For example, the Schlage digital lock We Are More recently installed is pictured above. It has a keypad for keyless locking and unlocking as well as a keyhole. No matter how many times the code needs to be changed, the owner of this property will always have a key.

We Are More installs Baldwin, Kwikset, Schlage and Yale smart locks. All compatible with a wide variety of smart home systems and appliances. To find out which smart lock is best, or for more information on why they’re beneficial, call We Are More. For personal investigation, feel free to check out some of the articles linked below.

Why Businesses Should Have VoIP

Why Businesses Should Have VoIP

Through the year of 2020, millions of people experienced what it was like to work away from the office. Posing new challenges, the Covid-19 restrictions also forced thousands of businesses to shut down indefinitely. With VOIP telecommunications, a large number of businesses could could have an easier time managing their work. Here’s why:

VoIP is like a pot of gold for remote workers. It’s more than a phone. VoIP consists of file sharing, chat features, video conferencing, archiving, virtual faxing and more. It’s ideal for those working remotely because VoIP is solely reliant on the internet. The benefits of VoIP are unparalleled compared to traditional telecommunications.

Other advantage include:

  • Scalability: It’s easy to add new VoIP lines for each new employee, and equally easy to remove them when necessary.
  • VoIP supports legacy technologies in a modern way: Allowing employees to utilize old ways of communication virtually.
  • VoIP integrates with other business systems: Make voice calls and handle voicemail all from within your mail client.

What exactly is “VOIP”? Vo stands for Voice Over, while IP stands for the IP address, which computers and other devices use to communicate with one another through the internet. First developed in 1995, VoIP was used as an inexpensive way to make long distance phone calls. Now it’s used for an array of things, including saving money.

Voice over IP allows businesses to get rid of expensive telecommunication hardware. Companies can significantly reduce the overhead associated with telephone solutions by switching to voice over IP. It has the potential to save large organizations millions of dollars every year.

Thanks to the luxury of available media with a voice over IP session, companies can also cut back on expensive travelling costs. Employees can work from home, or anywhere, with the internet. Voice over IP can virtually place people in any room.

Ultimately, VoIP enables businesses to reroute their voice communications over the same media used by the company network. VoIP services aren’t only a viable alternative to traditional communication like Private Branch Exchange (PBX), but also a well rounded complete telecoms solution.

With the growing availability of broadband connectivity, voice over IP is gaining further favor with organizations who see the importance of technological convergence. Voice, video, and live sharing of content can all be found with VoIP. A revolutionizing way to communicate from anywhere in the world.

The drawbacks? Employees need the internet. A solution that We Are More can easily include in any VoIP installation. Call us to ask about our WIFI options, or for a free consultation on our VoIP services. Aloha!
