Emlployment VS Technology Do evolving smart businesses mean that there will be less employment opportunity? No. Not unless your company is completely robotic. Even then, businesses that decide they want to let everything be run by computers will be opening employment for IT departments. No computer can run properly without a tech guy, or tech persons. Actual robots being used in the workplace would most likely only be used to help employees do ”dangerous, heavy or repetitive tasks.” That, however, is only if your company is big enough to afford a robot. Industrial robots cost anywhere from $50,000 to $150,000—but I’m not here to talk about them. Let’s talk about facts. The top 50 smartest business, according to Technology Review, consist of names we all know. The third on the list being Amazon. It uses a computer powered online store that connects to all sorts of little gadgets, like Alexa. Shockingly, Amazon has over 600,000 employees. On top of that, they have 30,000 job openings as of September 2019. That’s a whole lot of people working for a store that’s powered by artificial intelligence! Amazon is a good example of how technology doesn’t replace human workers but rather benefits how humans do their work. Their online store and appliances have made them the fifth largest company in America! Amazon is a big example, but smaller companies benefit just as much. We Are More is an electrical contracting company; they specialize in smart technology. The cool thing is that they don’t just sell their products, they use them! Why? Being a smart business isn’t just cool, it helps employees get their jobs done quicker, and finish them more efficiently. Take clocking in to work for example.
